JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our work community in Orange. In this full-time, non-exempt role, you will process weekly payroll for your assigned branch correctly and on time. This job involves keeping track of employee timecards, making sure all numbers are correct in our payroll system, and following company rules and wage laws.
Responsibilities Weekly Payroll:
Run the weekly payroll from start to finish to make sure all employees are paid correctly and on time.
Time Tracking:
Keep track of and check employee timecards to ensure they follow company attendance rules and government laws.
Double-Check Data:
Make sure all payroll numbers are right—including hours, pay rates, and any special pay changes—before sending out checks.
Rules & Regulations:
Check all payroll details to ensure they follow federal, state, and local wage laws.
Filing & Privacy:
Organize and lock away private payroll files to follow legal rules and keep employee information safe.
Pay Deductions:
Help calculate and double-check pay subtractions, including taxes, health benefits, and child support or legal garnishments.
Fixing Mistakes:
Find and fix payroll errors quickly by talking directly with department managers and employees.
Payroll Reports:
Create regular payroll summaries to help with financial audits, tax paperwork, and company budget tracking.
Employee Help:
Answer employee questions directly regarding how to log their time or fix pay-related issues. What We Offer Invest in

Requirements:
Required Education and Experience Education:
High school diploma or a GED.
Payroll Experience:
At least 1 and a half years of experience running payroll in the construction industry.
Union & Shift Knowledge:
A strong understanding of trade union rules, regular shift work, and split or multi-shift setups. Working for a union contractor in the past is a big plus.
Software Skills:
Comfortable and skilled at using Microsoft Excel and Word every day.
Communication Skills:
Great at talking with and listening to everyone on the team, from site workers out in the field to company managers in the office. This includes answering employee questions quickly and helping them fix their payroll concerns right away.
Preferred Education and Experience Bilingual Skills:
Able to speak and understand both English and Spanish comfortably.
Software Knowledge:
Experienced using Spectrum or Viewpoint payroll software.
Paycards:
Comfortable using the Doc-u-livery system and third-party paycard programs. EEO/Vet/Disabled.
