Full Job Description Certified Payroll Specialist Location:
San Francisco, CA About the Company We're seeking a Certified Payroll Specialist for a mid-sized general contractor with a strong presence across the Bay Area, delivering commercial and mixed-use construction projects. Position Overview The Certified Payroll Specialist will own the certified payroll process and ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage requirements. This role works closely with project managers, subcontractors, and accounting to maintain accurate reporting and documentation across all jobs. Key Responsibilities Process and review certified payroll reports (DIR, LCPtracker, or similar systems) Ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws, including Davis-Bacon Act and California DIR requirements Track and verify subcontractor certified payroll submissions for accuracy and completeness Audit payroll records, fringe benefits, and worker classifications Maintain organized records for audits and internal reporting Coordinate with project teams to resolve payroll or compliance discrepancies Support labor compliance interviews and documentation requests Stay current on changes in labor laws and compliance standards Qualifications 3+ years of certified payroll experience in construction Strong knowledge of prevailing wage laws and compliance requirements Experience with DIR reporting and systems like LCPtracker or eMars Solid understanding of union vs. non-union payroll structures High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment Preferred Experience working for a general contractor Exposure to multi-project environments ($10M+ project size) Familiarity with accounting systems and Excel (pivot tables, lookups) Compensation $75,000 - $95,000 base salary (depending on experience) Benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) Beacon Hill is an equal opportunity employer and individuals with disabilities and/or protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
