Job Description

San Jose, Ca Schedule:
Mon-Fri 8am-5pm Position type: Temp Pay rate: $25/hr Please note this is a 3 month assignment• Position Summary Provides support to the Payroll Department and ensures the timely and accurate processing of payroll runs. As well as processing employee records by compiling, organizing and entering data into the Time & Attendance and Payroll System and issuing pay and pay-related information to employees. While maintaining a high level of confidentiality and protecting payroll data.
Essential Functions:
1. Payroll processing 1. Process and close payroll run with established deadlines and collaborates with Payroll team members to meet such payroll deadlines for Weekly, Bi-Weekly and Semi-Monthly runs. 2. Obtain supervisory approval of timecard discrepancies, overtime approvals, and process garnishments requests. 3. Print and issues paychecks as well as process direct deposit payments. 1. Payroll record keeping 1. Enter changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, 401K plans and job title and department/division transfers. 2. Updates and maintains payroll information by collecting, verifying, calculating, and entering employee data, such as process paperwork for new employees, terminations and promotions into the payroll system as well as maintaining leave time such as Vacation, Sick and LOA for employees. 1. Payroll assistant 1. Provide customer service to employers/employees and assist them in completing their enrollment paperwork properly 2. Answer calls, E-mails and any type of communication for employees and management. 3. Address employees' payroll questions and provide accurate data for the employees and managers.

1. Detail-oriented, quantitative thinkers who are adept at noticing errors and spend a lot of time completing calculations, in order succeed, they must be able to multi-task and prioritize as well as remain highly organized. 2. Dealing often with confidential information must be trustworthy. 3. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 4. Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes 5. Attendance is expected and must be reliable. 6. Special projected as requested. 7. Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and guidelines.
Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
1. High school diploma/GED required. 2. Experience in basic accounting practices. 3. Three plus years of experience in Weekly, Bi-Weekly and Semi-Monthly payroll processing a must. 4. Knowledge of multi-state payroll. 5. Good MS Office Skills (Outlook, Word) - Strong in MS Office Excel skills. 6. Strong organization skills, attention to detail with solid data entry skills required and 10 Keypad. 7. Good verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills. 8. Good math aptitude with problem solving ability. 9. Customer service oriented. 10. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment where taking initiative is as important as taking direction. 11. Understanding and compliance of internal payroll controls. 12. Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment. 13. Must possess effective decision-making skills and multi-task while working in an environment of high pressure with the ability to solve payroll issues efficiently.
Preferred Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
1. Associates Accounting Degree. 2. Bilingual (English and Spanish is a plus).
