Multi-State Payroll Specialist Location Santa Ana, CA Pay Rate:

$35.00 - $42.00 per hour

Proven experience processing multi-state payroll in a complex environment Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance, including federal, state, and local regulations Experience with prevailing wage, Service Contract Act (SCA), and public works payroll Familiarity with California DIR requirements and certified payroll reporting Experience with QuickBooks and Paychex Flex required Strong understanding of payroll accounting, including general ledger, reconciliations, and tax filings Knowledge of ERISA, IRS, and Department of Labor regulations High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment Why This Job? Responsibilities Process weekly and bi-weekly multi-state payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including overtime and break requirements Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in accordance with prevailing wage requirements and California DIR regulations Manage payroll adjustments, including garnishments, deductions, and benefit changes Perform payroll accounting functions, including general ledger postings, reconciliations, and journal entries Prepare and support quarterly and annual tax filings (e.g., Forms 940, 941, W-2) Partner with HR, Operations, and Production teams to validate timecards and payroll data Serve as a liaison between departments to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing Respond to payroll inquiries with professionalism and maintain strict confidentiality Support internal and external audits and prepare required reports Assist with payroll system improvements and ongoing process enhancements Friendly Team.
