Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for all employees. Your expertise in payroll management systems and accounting software will be essential to maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our organization's financial health by delivering precise payroll services and supporting human resources functions. Responsibilities Process payroll accurately and efficiently using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements. Reconcile payroll data through detailed account reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation procedures. Maintain employee records related to compensation, benefits administration, and tax information with meticulous attention to detail. Perform data entry tasks related to payroll transactions, benefits, and tax filings while ensuring data integrity across multiple platforms including QuickBooks and HRIS systems. Prepare journal entries for payroll expenses, benefits costs, and other related financial transactions in compliance with double entry bookkeeping principles. Collaborate with accounting teams on accounts payable and receivable processes involving payroll-related disbursements. Assist with audits by providing detailed reports on payroll activities, tax filings, and compliance documentation. Support HR functions by processing employee changes, benefits enrollment updates, and assisting with non-profit or governmental accounting requirements when applicable. Requirements Proven experience managing payroll using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos or similar platforms. Strong understanding of payroll management processes combined with knowledge of accounting concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger accounting. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or comparable financial tools. Familiarity with HRIS systems for employee data management and benefits administration. Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll processing and reporting requirements. Excellent analysis skills for account reconciliation and financial data review. Ability to perform high-volume data entry accurately using 10 key typing skills. Experience in non-profit or governmental accounting is a plus but not required. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger reconciliation tasks. $25.57 - $27.79 per hour
