Position Summary:
Kootenai Health is seeking a Temporary Payroll Specialist with strong experience in tax reconciliation and wage garnishments to support our payroll operations. This role is responsible for entering, auditing, and processing payroll data with a high degree of accuracy, while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise in payroll tax balancing, garnishment administration, and resolving complex discrepancies.
Responsibilities:
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations Organizes and reviews forms and payments associated with federal, state, and local authorities, such as W-2s and taxes Sorts and distributes payroll checks and processes manual checks when required Maintains payroll processing by calculating and entering data into the timekeeping/payroll system Answers questions regarding payroll matters Reviews and audits payroll transactions Reconciles tax and deduction reports for payroll balancing Maintains employee payroll records Performs other related duties as assigned Competent to meet the age-specific needs of the unit assigned Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Minimum 2 years' experience related to payroll, benefits, taxes, or accounting required 1 year of automated payroll-processing experience with a large employee base preferred
Working Conditions:
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20lbs Must be able to maintain a sitting position Typical equipment used in an office job Repetitive movements

Additional Information Temporary Payroll Specialist Position Summary:
Enters, corrects, verifies, and transmits payroll information in the payroll system. Ensures transactions are processed accurately and on time, reviewing and resolving discrepancies expeditiously. Serves as an expert, providing guidance related to payroll, tax, and withholding-related processes and requirements.
