Job Description

We are currently hiring a HR & Payroll Specialist based at our Global Headquarters in Champaign, IL! Typical pay for this position is $55-75k annually. The final offer for this position will be based on the unique experience and qualifications of the candidate selected. As a key member of our Human Resources team, the core responsibilities will be heavily weighted on Payroll and Learning and Development. This role will be cross trained in multiple HR functions and will support work as needed throughout the department including special projects and other duties as assigned.
PAYROLL RESPONSIBILITIES
Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, bonuses, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. Maintains payroll and HRIS system data integrity through periodic audits, status changes and employee updates. Manages security, access, personalization, and similar system configurations and settings for HRIS users. Develops and prepares periodic reports, dashboards and related analysis as requested. Recommends related changes, automation opportunities and improvements. Stays abreast and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws, and best practices across locations. Maintains a high degree of confidentiality, earns trust in handling payroll and other HR matters with employees, leadership and 3 rd party agencies. Supports remote employees and business unit leaders with payroll related issues, discrepancy resolution, documents and use of HRIS system. Administers and maintains optimal function of the HRIS, serves as subject matter expert, provides end user training, resolves system related problems, and works with IT on system maintenance, customizations and updates. Manages look and content of HR related online resources including web pages, forms, updates and related materials. Will be cross trained in multiple HR functions. EXPERIENCE
Preferably hold a bachelor's degree in HR or related field. Seeking 2+ years' payroll experience, L&D a plus. Must have experience with an HRIS system; UKG preferred. Experience handling Multi-state payroll. Able to effectively use spreadsheet, word-processing and database software - UKG and PayScale highly desirable. Excellent communication and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization; Able to present him/herself in a professional and courteous manner, serving the needs of all internal and external customers effectively. Able to work independently while ensuring that his/her manager is kept informed of the status of HR related issues. Good judgment in working with people, maintaining an appropriate balance of representing the company and its policies but also being an advocate for the employees and their well being.
