Full-time Reports to: Controller (works closely with the PayrollBenefits Specialist) Bengal is seeking a PayrollBenefits Coordinator to support weekly payroll processing and day-to-day benefits administration for a growing, fast-paced operation. This is an onsite role for a detail-oriented professional who wants to learn the full payroll and benefits function, take ownership of defined responsibilities, and grow into a position that can step in and cover the PayrollBenefits Specialist during absences, peak periods, or emergencies. About the role This position works directly alongside the PayrollBenefits Specialist to support weekly payroll, benefits administration, recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance activities. The Coordinator will be cross-trained across the full scope of the function so they can serve as a reliable backup when needed. The person in this role will work in iSolved and partner with Crescent-HR, so a willingness to learn payroll/HR systems, manage details carefully, and communicate professionally with employees and outside partners will be important to success. What you'll do Assist with weekly payroll processing, including data entry of employee changes, deductions, adjustments, and supporting documentation. Help maintain employee payroll records, timecard information, benefits data, and related files with accuracy and confidentiality. Review payroll reports and supporting data alongside the Specialist to catch errors before payroll is finalized. Support administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, supplemental offerings, and 401(k
  • related processes.
Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions on benefits enrollment, life-event changes, and basic claims support, escalating complex issues to the Specialist. Help reconcile insurance invoices and payroll deductions, flag discrepancies, and assist with follow-up to brokers, carriers, and service partners. Assist with COBRA administration, unemployment claims, required notices, and other compliance-related tasks. Prepare routine reports, including new hire, absentee, and employee change reporting, as directed. Cross-train on all core payroll and benefits functions to provide reliable backup coverage during the Specialist's absence or in emergency situations. Partner with the Specialist, finance team, and leadership on audits, renewals, and process improvements as experience grows. What we're looking for 1-2 years of experience in payroll support, benefits administration, HR coordination, accounting support, or a closely related role. Strong recent graduates with relevant internship or coursework experience will be considered. Exposure to a payroll or HRIS platform; familiarity with any of the following is a plus but not required: iSolved, Microsoft Dynamics GP (formerly Great Plains), Employee Navigator, Fidelity, Ameriflex, or iHire. Solid Excel and Microsoft Office skills, with comfort working in spreadsheets, reports, and detailed administrative workflows. Strong attention to detail, organization, discretion, and follow-through. Good communication and service skills when working with employees, managers, and outside partners. A genuine interest in learning the full payroll and benefits function and growing within the role. Experience with benefits billing, payroll deductions, or insurance-related administration is a plus. Candidates with bookkeeping, accounting support, or front-office HR experience are encouraged to apply.
