Role:
The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees within the real estate and rental leasing industry. This position is responsible for managing payroll tax compliance, maintaining payroll accounts, and utilizing payroll systems and software to streamline payroll operations. The specialist will collaborate closely with HR and finance teams to ensure all payroll activities align with company policies and regulatory requirements. By overseeing state tax calculations and deductions, the Payroll Specialist helps mitigate risks related to tax filings and audits. Ultimately, this role ensures employees are compensated correctly and on schedule, contributing to overall organizational efficiency and employee satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role within the United States. Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements at the federal and state levels. Proficiency in payroll software, specifically Paycom or equivalent systems. Experience processing payroll accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the real estate, rental, or leasing industry. Certification in payroll management such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP). Advanced knowledge of state-specific tax laws and multi-state payroll processing. Familiarity with accounting software integration and general ledger reconciliation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Paycom knowledge is preferred
Responsibilities:
Process and manage the full payroll cycle using payroll software, including data entry, verification, and distribution of paychecks. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including accurate calculation and timely remittance of payroll taxes. Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and garnishments. Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies or issues related to payroll processing. Collaborate with HR and finance departments to support audits, reporting, and payroll-related inquiries. Utilize payroll systems such as Paycom to automate and improve payroll processes. Prepare and submit required payroll reports and filings to government agencies.
