Data Payroll Technician (ATU-Clerical Represented)
Office:
Transportation General Summary Under direct supervision, the Data Payroll Technician prepares weekly payroll at a terminal. Duties and Responsibilities Prepares weekly payroll in accordance with union contract provisions. Computes wages and posts wage data to payroll records from timecards, subtracting deductions such as income tax withholdings, social security payments, union dues. Posts accounts receivable and makes bank deposits. Maintains employee vacation, sick and personal leave banks in accordance with union contract provisions. Performs other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High school graduation or equivalent. Two (2) years bookkeeping or payroll experience at a medium size organization. Experience with manual and computerized payroll systems. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum requirements. Ability to operate a desktop calculator. Proficient in Windows-based word processing and spreadsheet applications. Ability to interpret union contract agreements regarding pay provisions.
