NA POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Payroll Specialist supports the Payroll Director in overseeing all multi-state payroll operations across the company. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Key responsibilities include processing biweekly payroll, resolving payroll-related issues, assisting with tax filings and audits, maintaining payroll procedures, and supporting locations with timecard and payroll processes. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, confidentiality, and expertise in payroll systems and compliance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Support payroll operations and assist the payroll team with daily functions Communicate with location managers regarding payroll and timecard issues Compile, review, and process weekly and biweekly payrolls Investigate and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees and locations Assist with quarterly and year-end payroll processes Train location staff on payroll procedures and timecard requirements Ensure payroll readiness each week and troubleshoot processing issues Create, update, and maintain payroll department SOPs and documentation Prepare and distribute weekly payroll reports to senior leadership Prepare and distribute weekly timecard exception reports Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations Maintain payroll systems and employee payroll records Partner with Human Resources to ensure employee data accuracy and compliance Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information Stay current on payroll laws, regulations, and industry best practices through ongoing professional development
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll administration experience, including multi-company and multi-state payroll processing Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Strong understanding of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws Excellent analytical skills and high attention to detail, particularly related to timecard processing Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, from field staff to senior leadership Strong problem-solving and organizational skills Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines and compliance requirements Physical Demands Frequency . This position will be in person at the Andover location.
