This position assists in ensuring accurate employee data, timely reporting, and compliance with federal, state, and contractual requirements. The Payroll Administrator I will work closely with the Payroll & Benefits Lead and will serve as a key resource for payroll documentation, reporting, and employee payroll support. Key Responsibilities Payroll Administration
- Review employee timesheets for accuracy and completeness.
- Process employee terminations within the payroll and accounting systems.
- Assist with payroll record maintenance and employee data updates.
- Support payroll processing activities as assigned. Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) reports.
- Prepare Certified Payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage requirements.
- Track apprentice hours, including jobsite hours and related school attendance requirements.
- Submit required new hire reports to state agencies.
- Process and maintain records related to unemployment claims.
- Review, process, and maintain child support orders, garnishments, and other payroll deductions. Employee Records & Onboarding
- Review and enter new hire packets and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll and personnel records.
- Process employment verification requests in accordance with company policies. Payroll Support Functions
- Scan, organize, and maintain payroll-related documents and correspondence.
- Assist with payroll audits and compliance reviews.
- Provide administrative support to the Payroll & Benefits Lead. Advanced Responsibilities (As Assigned)
- Prepare layoff checks in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Process voided payroll checks and related adjustments.
- Assist with payroll disbursement activities.
- Maintain authorized access to banking platforms and payroll-related systems as assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
- One to three years of payroll, accounting, human resources, or administrative experience preferred.
- Construction industry experience, Certified Payroll experience, or prevailing wage reporting experience is a plus. Knowledge, Sills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Knowledge of payroll practices, employment documentation, and payroll compliance requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Experience with payroll and accounting software preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
