Payroll Specialist

We're hiring a Payroll Specialist to manage payroll for our braiding and hairstyling salon. You'll process payments for approximately 50 independent contractor stylists, verify earnings, and file tax documents.

This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, and experienced with payroll processing. No cash handling required—you calculate and audit; management approves and executes payments.•

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Calculate contractor commissions and earnings based on daily service logs Verify hours and payment amounts before processing Maintain accurate payroll records for all contractors Audit daily/weekly service logs for accuracy and completeness Prepare and file 1099-NEC tax forms at year-end Generate weekly/monthly payroll reports Answer basic contractor questions about pay calculations Input data into payroll software (Gusto, OnPay, Square, or QuickBooks) Compile month-end and year-end payroll reports•

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1-3

years of payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting experience Expert spreadsheet skills (Excel, Google Sheets) Familiarity with payroll software (Gusto, QuickBooks, ADP, OnPay, or similar) Strong attention to detail Ability to work independently Clear communication skills Understanding of 1099 independent contractor tax forms•

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with beauty industry or service-based contractor payroll CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or PCO certification Experience with commission-based payment structures Familiarity with multiple payroll platforms•
