Job Description

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support accurate and compliant payroll operations for a high-volume, multi-state workforce in Charlotte, North Carolina. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who brings strong full-cycle payroll expertise, works confidently in ADP Workforce Now, and can partner effectively across payroll, HR, and accounting functions. The right candidate will help maintain reliable payroll processing, address employee questions, and contribute to reporting, reconciliations, and regulatory compliance. This is a Part-Time opportunity approximately 10 hours weekly.
Responsibilities:
  • Administer end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population, ensuring timely and accurate pay for multi-state teams.
  • Maintain organized payroll documentation and produce reports related to earnings, withholdings, benefit deductions, and other payroll activity.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax documentation, including recurring filings and year-end forms such as W-2s and 1099s.
  • Research payroll variances, identify root causes, and resolve issues promptly to minimize disruption to employees and the business.
  • Monitor payroll practices for alignment with applicable tax rules, labor requirements, and internal standards.
  • Work closely with HR and accounting partners to support payroll procedures, data integrity, and consistent policy application.
  • Review payroll records through routine audits and reconciliations to confirm completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Assist with payroll account balancing and provide support during month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, and compensation-related matters in a timely and clear manner.
