Job Description

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support high-volume payroll operations for a large multi-state workforce in Baltimore, Maryland. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for a payroll specialist who can step into a fast-paced environment, maintain accuracy under tight deadlines, and help ensure timely pay processing for over 4,000 employees. The role offers initial onsite training and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
  • Process end-to-end payroll for a large employee population, ensuring wages, deductions, and taxes are calculated accurately and submitted on schedule.
  • Manage payroll activities across multiple states while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and reporting requirements.
  • Review timekeeping records, investigate discrepancies, and partner with internal staff to resolve payroll issues before final processing.
  • Support regular and off-cycle payroll runs, including expedited payments when urgent business needs arise.
  • Assist with payroll administration within UKG Ready or comparable time and attendance and payroll systems, including data validation and audit checks.
  • Collaborate with payroll leadership and team members during onboarding and cross-training to maintain continuity of payroll operations.
  • Respond to employee and management inquiries related to pay, time records, and payroll adjustments in a prompt and timely manner.
