Primary Purpose:

The Payroll Clerk must possess excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure with strict timelines.

The Payroll Clerk must maintain a focus on detail; be able to apply different administrative and Collective Bargaining Agreement policies through analytical thinking and must possess a working knowledge of state and federal wage and hour laws.

The position requires an individual who can interface with all departments both internally and on a corporate level and is customer service oriented. The Payroll Clerk will report to the Payroll Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Verify the accuracy of figures and computations of weekly payroll for more than 1,000 employees in multiple pay groups. Process new hires, personnel changes, direct deposits and tax documents. Research and resolve all payroll related discrepancies. Produce manual checks, process stop payments, voids and reversals. Issue bonus payments, step increases, retroactive payments, special collective bargaining agreement payments, and year-end accrual payments. Ensure all accrual balances are accurate and processed correctly in the timekeeping system. Support all departments with their timekeeping entries. Special projects as needed which may include analysis of payroll data for use by senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 1-2 years of Payroll experience. Must be confident, approachable, flexible and assertive. Strong ability to interpret and explain Collective Bargaining Agreements. ADP Enterprise (EV6) experience preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office. The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of the importance of personal accountability and commitment to excellence. The candidate must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and assertiveness.
