Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPayroll Specialist (Temporary)$34-38/hour | Full-Time | On-Site (Suffern, NY) Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pmLong-term temporary assignment (12 mo)
JOB OVERVIEW
Oversee the performance and processing of all payroll responsibilities within a large, multi-entity healthcare network. This role requires a detail-oriented payroll professional with strong regulatory knowledge, experience with healthcare payroll platforms, and the ability to collaborate across HR, Finance, and departmental leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Process payroll for all entities within the organization's network Oversee day-to-day administrative payroll processes and interact with payroll managers across the network to streamline operations Complete retroactive payroll adjustments as necessary Partner with department managers to address and resolve payroll-related issues Ensure compliance with garnishments, tax changes, and applicable federal and state laws Work independently and in collaboration with Finance staff and the Network Director of Payroll Implement automation improvements to maximize payroll productivity and quality; conduct special studies or projects as required Collaborate with Human Resources and Benefits departments to integrate data and support best organizational practices Assist with internal and external audit data requests Support the annual budget process as it relates to payroll Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Minimum 4 years of managerial experience in payroll required
Education:
Bachelor's degree required
Certifications:
FPC or CPP designation a plus
Systems:
Experience processing payroll on Paragon required; knowledge of UKG a plus
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Thorough knowledge of the following: Automated staff scheduling and timekeeping processes and applications Automated compensation systems and procedures Payroll and payroll tax issues Federal and state employment laws including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), ERISA, Social Security Act, and Unemployment Insurance benefit programs and their applicable deduction rules Principles of payroll auditing; ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues and anticipate future risks and opportunities related to payroll administration Implications of policy decisions on payroll operations Demonstrated ability to: Communicate effectively both orally and in writing Interpret complex data and present clear, logical reports Gather, organize, and analyze pertinent information to draw sound conclusions Establish and maintain effective working relationships across functions and disciplines Effectively utilize Microsoft Office and payroll-related computer applications
