Position Overview Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage full-cycle payroll for a large employee population, including active employees and retirees. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently in a supportive, team-focused environment and takes pride in maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. Payroll Specialist Responsibilities Process biweekly payroll for approximately 1,200 employees and 400 retirees. The Payroll Specialist will reconcile payroll, verify balances, and maintain accurate payroll records using Excel and payroll systems. Track and maintain confidential personnel records and PTO/vacation balances in Excel. The Payroll Specialist will ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations and assist with filings, audits, and year-end reporting (fiscal year ends June 30). Serve as a point of contact for payroll-related questions, providing clear and helpful guidance to employees. The Payroll Specialist will assist with general ledger support and administrative tasks as needed. Qualifications of the Payroll Specialist Role Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field or equivalent payroll experience. Previous full-cycle payroll experience required; experience in a small organization is a plus. Basic Excel skills including formulas, tables, and data entry (advanced functions not required). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Friendly, patient, and collaborative personality with strong communication skills.
