Processes all aspects of payroll including any tasks related to ensuring timely and accurate distribution of paychecks for assigned CSCU employees.Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the Assistant Payroll Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of all employee payroll. This includes but is not limited to overseeing full and part-time employee timesheets, adjunct faculty pay processing, shift and overtime differentials auditing, honorarium and grant payments, retirement payout calculations, retroactive and other non-regular pay adjustments, overpayment calculations and recoveries, entering tax withholdings, direct deposit set up and credit union deductions, and FMLA/workers' compensation timesheet processing through effective performance in these essential duties: Processes monthly accrual, and maintains sick, vacation, and personal leave balances. Maintains and updates employee payroll records, including processing onboarding for new hires and offboarding for terminations and transfers. Serves as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries. Responsible for providing exceptional customer service while communicating effectively via phone, email, and in person. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies with empathy, accuracy, and urgency. Assists the Payroll Manager in running and checking the processes required to electronically transmit the CSCU's payroll to Central Payroll at the State Comptroller's Office. Generates ad hoc reports and extracts of payroll information for auditing, reporting, and management requirements. Collaborates closely with outside departments, fiscal officers, various state agencies, and the Board of Regents; recommends and helps develop improvements to optimize payroll services. Responsible for compliant and ongoing interpretation of policy; creates procedures, training documents, and user guides for payroll processors as well as employees. Performs other related duties which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration required. Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following: Three (3) years of experience in payroll with three (3) years of progressively more responsible experience in the development and implementation of effective computerized payroll, fiscal, and administrative systems. Ability to prepare and interpret analytical reports using tools such as the Microsoft Office suite and other PC based reporting packages. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience. Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum Salary; $75,000 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.
