Payroll Specialist LHH US San Francisco, CA Job Details $100,000 - $140,000 a year 12 hours ago Benefits Health savings account Disability insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Flexible spending account Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Certified Payroll Professional Cross-functional communication Full Job Description LHH is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist for a growing professional services organization to oversee accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations for a multi-state workforce. This role serves as the organization's payroll subject matter expert, managing day-to-day payroll administration while driving process improvements, compliance initiatives, and payroll system optimization. The anticipated salary for this role is between $100,000-$140,000 a year.
Responsibilities:
Process semi-monthly payroll for employees and leadership personnel, including specialized compensation distributions Maintain and manage payroll data within ADP Workforce Now or a similar payroll platform Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including multi-state tax and wage requirements Serve as the primary contact for payroll-related inquiries, investigations, and issue resolution Conduct payroll onboarding and orientation for new employees, including timekeeping and pay practices Partner with HR and Finance leadership to identify payroll compliance risks and recommend solutions Lead payroll-related projects such as system upgrades, integrations, and vendor transitions Evaluate and improve payroll processes through automation, workflow enhancements, and operational efficiencies Maintain payroll system configurations to align with current policies and compliance standards Prepare recurring and ad hoc payroll reports related to earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefit contributions Coordinate timely remittance of retirement and benefit-related deductions in compliance with applicable regulations Support financial reconciliations and assist with reporting functions as needed Complete employment verifications and payroll-related compliance documentation Maintain payroll resources and self-service information for employees Handle all payroll and personal information with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
Qualifications:
5+ years of progressive payroll experience in a multi-state environment Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour compliance, and payroll best practices Experience within a professional services environment preferred CPP certification required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred Advanced proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll systems Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all levels of an organization Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
