Position Title:
Tax Analyst, Corporate Payroll Duration:
5 Months+ (Possible Extension)
Pay Rate:
$35/hour on W2
Location:
Tampa, FL (Hybrid) Position Overview The Tax Analyst will support corporate payroll operations with a primary focus on payroll tax processing, compliance, auditing, reconciliation, and employee support. This role requires expertise in multi-state payroll taxation, payroll systems, tax reporting, and regulatory compliance within a large employer environment. Key Responsibilities Provide payroll tax support and customer service to employees regarding taxable wages, tax withholding, payroll tax practices, and related inquiries. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for payroll tax processes and compliance matters. Maintain service level agreements (SLAs) for employee cases involving taxable wages, tax withholding, and tax reporting. Conduct audits to ensure accurate employee tax setup and withholding configurations. Perform quality reviews of payroll team members' work and provide coaching and training as needed. Complete payroll tax reconciliations, audits, and variance analysis. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between payroll, HR, and tax compliance systems. Review, audit, and respond to tax notices and tax-related investigations. Interpret payroll tax regulations, labor laws, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance. Process payroll adjustments impacting taxable wages and tax withholding. Audit and reconcile annual wage and tax statements with payroll records. Maintain current knowledge of payroll taxation requirements and regulatory changes. Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and analysis. Respond to employee and leadership inquiries via phone, email, and case management systems within established service levels. Participate in payroll system testing, configuration validation, and project initiatives. Reconcile and maintain quarterly tax filings, amendments, and corrected tax forms. Assist with setup and maintenance of new tax jurisdictions and tax types. Communicate with taxing authorities to research and resolve employee tax issues and company tax notices. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of payroll experience. Experience supporting large employers with multi-state payroll operations. Experience with garnishment processing. Strong knowledge of payroll and timekeeping systems. Expertise in multi-state payroll tax calculations. Experience with short-term disability calculations, including offsets. Knowledge of overpayment calculations and recovery processes. Experience with salary proration calculations. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Flexibility to support employees across multiple time zones. Ability to work in a hybrid office environment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and/or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC). Experience with enterprise payroll and workforce management systems.
