Senior Payroll Specialist (Contract-to-Hire)
Location:
New York, NY (Hybrid
  • 3 days onsite, 2 remote)
Duration:
6-month contract-to-hire
Pay Rate:
$35
  • 45/hour
Conversion Salary:
$70,000

  • 5:00 PM Extended hours may be required during payroll cycles (as early as 8:00 AM and up to 6:00 PM) Overview We are seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to support the Payroll Manager in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across a large, multi-location organization.
This role requires strong attention to detail, Excel expertise, and hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now. This is a high-visibility position where accuracy and efficiency are critical, and you will regularly interact with employees to resolve payroll-related inquiries. Key Responsibilities Process payroll transactions in ADP Workforce Now , including new hires, terminations, and changes Review and validate timesheets for accuracy and approvals; manage uploads from ADP E-Time Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate payroll reports Partner with HR to ensure accurate reflection of employee and benefits changes Calculate and prepare union benefit payments monthly Generate standard and ad hoc payroll reports using ADP reporting tools Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation Support year-end processes , including W-2 preparation Maintain cost allocation records and assist with G/L interface issues Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a professional, timely manner Train employees on ADP E-Time system usage Serve as backup to the Payroll Manager as needed Support special projects and additional payroll-related tasks Required Qualifications 5+ years of payroll experience Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment High attention to detail and accuracy Strong communication and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with union payroll Experience in a nonprofit or social services environment Familiarity with payroll audits and compliance processes Experience with ADP Custom Reporting Why This Role Join a mission-driven organization making a real community impact High-visibility role supporting payroll operations across 50+ sites Opportunity to transition into a full-time position with career growth Interview Process Initial recruiter screening Final onsite interview with leadership + Excel assessment Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.
