Payroll Administrator 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars Columbia, SC 29203 $65,000 - $70,000 a year Robert Half 13,767 reviews $65,000 - $70,000 a year Our client is seeking a Payroll Administrator to oversee accurate and timely payroll operations for employees across North America while supporting a compliant, well-organized payroll function. This role is based in Columbia, South Carolina, and is ideal for someone who is confident managing end-to-end payroll activities, resolving discrepancies, and collaborating with HR and internal partners. The ideal candidate brings strong Dayforce experience, a solid grasp of payroll regulations, and the ability to maintain precision in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Administer end-to-end payroll processing for employees working across several U.S. states and additional jurisdictions using Dayforce. Review earnings, deductions, benefits, and employee payroll records to maintain complete and accurate data. Monitor applicable payroll laws and tax requirements to help ensure ongoing compliance at the federal, state, and provincial levels. Investigate payroll variances, correct errors promptly, and address issues before they affect payment accuracy or timing. Work closely with Human Resources to update payroll records related to new hires, departures, pay changes, and other employee status adjustments. Prepare and support payroll tax reporting activities, including year-end documentation such as W-2 and T4 forms. Verify timekeeping information within Dayforce to ensure hours and related payroll inputs are properly captured and approved. Respond to payroll questions from employees and internal stakeholders across multiple locations with clear and timely guidance. Process garnishments, child support directives, and levies while maintaining appropriate documentation and record retention. Recommend practical improvements that strengthen payroll workflows and increase effective use of the payroll system. At least 3 years of experience managing payroll operations, including full-cycle processing responsibilities. Demonstrated background handling payroll for employees in a multi-state environment. Familiarity with Canadian payroll practices or direct experience supporting payroll in Canada. Hands-on experience using the Dayforce payroll platform. Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax withholding requirements, and related regulations. High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with confidential payroll information. Ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues effectively, and communicate well with cross-functional partners.
