This is a highly detail-oriented role that helps ensure our employees are paid accurately, onboarded successfully, and supported throughout their experience at Legacybox.Schedule:
MondayFriday Hours:
Typically 8:00 am- 5:00 pm (+
- 1 hour based on business needs)
Work Environment:
In-person, Chattanooga facility Responsibilities of the HR /Payroll Specialist:
Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time Review and audit time clock entries, missed punches, and pay code accuracy Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and wage regulations Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding processes Coordinate background checks, employment verification, and onboarding documentation Assist with employee relations matters, investigations, disciplinary meetings, and terminations as needed Maintain HRIS records and employee documentation with a high level of confidentiality Support benefits administration, insurance reconciliation, and employee communications regarding benefits Assist with training initiatives, performance evaluation processes, and employee development programs Help maintain policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates Compile reports and documentation related to OSHA, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and compliance requirements Partner with managers to support staffing needs, retention efforts, and organizational initiatives What aTypical Day Looks Like:
Review payroll and timekeeping information for accuracy Communicate with managers regarding attendance, approvals, or payroll corrections Assist candidates and new hires through onboarding and hiring processes Respond to employee questions related to payroll, benefits, or HR policies Maintain employee records and process HR documentation Participate in meetings related to staffing, employee support, or compliance initiatives Support the day-to-day operations of the HR department while balancing multiple priorities You'll Likely Do Well inThis Role If You've Previously:
Worked in payroll, HR, recruiting, or administrative operations Managed confidential information with professionalism and accuracy Used HRIS, payroll, or employee management systems Worked in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities Balanced detailed administrative work with employee-facing communication Interpreted or applied policies and procedures consistentlyYou'll Enjoy This Role If You Like:

Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Comfortable navigating employee conversations with empathy and accountability Knowledge of employment laws, payroll practices, and HR processes preferred Experience with payroll systems and HR software requiredEducation & Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of payroll and/or HR operations experience preferred Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar certification is a plus Who isLegacybox:
