Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a construction organization in Dallas, Texas. This contract position with permanent potential is ideal for someone who can manage high-volume payroll activities with accuracy, maintain compliance across multiple pay scenarios, and provide timely support to employees and internal stakeholders. The role requires a strong understanding of payroll processing, adjustments, reporting, and related documentation in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Examine employee time records for completeness and policy compliance, follow up on discrepancies, and coordinate corrections with staff and supervisors before payroll is finalized.
  • Prepare and enter payroll data from onboarding, reactivation, status change, termination, and timekeeping records while verifying balances and pay accuracy throughout each cycle.
  • Process additional earnings such as cost-of-living payments, per diem amounts, reimbursable expenses, bonuses, and other supplemental compensation.
  • Apply one-time payroll adjustments for deductions and taxable benefits, including benefit withholdings, vehicle-related allowances, and similar payroll exceptions.
  • Handle retroactive payroll updates and labor reallocations by reviewing historical entries and making accurate corrections to prior time and pay records.
  • Administer pay transactions associated with leave programs, including short-term disability, parental leave, military leave, and other approved absence types while tracking eligible balances.
  • Run scheduled and off-cycle payrolls within required timelines, reconcile payroll totals, maintain supporting spreadsheets, and distribute live checks when needed.
  • Complete payroll reporting, new employee reporting, garnishment administration, child support withholding compliance tasks, employment verification requests, unemployment responses, and organized record retention within established deadlines.
