Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a construction organization in Dallas, Texas. This contract position with permanent potential is ideal for someone who can manage high-volume payroll activities with accuracy, maintain compliance across multiple pay scenarios, and provide timely support to employees and internal stakeholders. The role requires a strong understanding of payroll processing, adjustments, reporting, and related documentation in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Examine employee time records for completeness and policy compliance, follow up on discrepancies, and coordinate corrections with staff and supervisors before payroll is finalized.
Prepare and enter payroll data from onboarding, reactivation, status change, termination, and timekeeping records while verifying balances and pay accuracy throughout each cycle.
Process additional earnings such as cost-of-living payments, per diem amounts, reimbursable expenses, bonuses, and other supplemental compensation.
Apply one-time payroll adjustments for deductions and taxable benefits, including benefit withholdings, vehicle-related allowances, and similar payroll exceptions.
Handle retroactive payroll updates and labor reallocations by reviewing historical entries and making accurate corrections to prior time and pay records.
Administer pay transactions associated with leave programs, including short-term disability, parental leave, military leave, and other approved absence types while tracking eligible balances.
Run scheduled and off-cycle payrolls within required timelines, reconcile payroll totals, maintain supporting spreadsheets, and distribute live checks when needed.
Complete payroll reporting, new employee reporting, garnishment administration, child support withholding compliance tasks, employment verification requests, unemployment responses, and organized record retention within established deadlines. Requirements
At least 3 years of payroll experience, including end-to-end payroll processing in a high-volume environment.
Hands-on experience with multi-state payroll administration and knowledge of payroll tax and compliance requirements.
Proficiency with payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now and Dayforce.
Ability to process weekly and biweekly payrolls, including off-cycle payments and manual adjustments.
