Payroll Specialist -
Job Description Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for day-to-day payroll processing across multiple tax entities and locations. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll execution, including managing time and attendance data, taxes, deductions, wage garnishments, liens, and payroll adjustments. The position also ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and supports ongoing audits and data integrity with the payroll processing system.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with Lawson payroll systems is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Process payroll for multiple entities, pay cycles, and locations, including managing employee work hours, earnings, deductions, and taxes in compliance with applicable regulations. Review, verify, prepare, and audit payroll data prior to transmission; ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with FLSA and state employment laws. Maintain and enter federal, state, and local tax information; ensure employees are properly coded according to jurisdictional requirements. Administer payroll deductions, including wage garnishments, tax levies, liens, and child support orders. Respond to all garnishment and levy notifications in accordance with legal requirements. Ensure employee transfers are processed accurately, including proper tax setup and implications. Serve as a point of contact for employee and management payroll inquiries, both written and verbal. Escalate complex or critical payroll issues to the Payroll Supervisor for resolution. Conduct periodic audits in coordination with the payroll processing system to ensure data accuracy and compliance. Perform additional duties as assigned.
