Class Summary Position performs a variety of accounting/payroll duties in order to ensure payrolls are processed accurately and timely while delivering professional customer service in the execution of these duties. Assist in the preparation of payroll, including related reports and deposits. Work under moderate supervision to ensure accurate and timely preparation of payroll records according to prescribed procedures and regulations.

Minimum Education/Training/Experience Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution and a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, accounting, payroll, or a related office environment; or a high school diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, accounting, payroll, or a related office environment. Preferred Education/Training/Experience Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and Five (5) or more years of payroll system experience in higher education or community college.
Experience with Ellucian-Colleague or ADP software.
Minimum Knowledge & Skills Making accurate arithmetic calculations.
Basic practices of reviewing financial documents for completeness and accuracy.
Basic office practices and procedures; basic record keeping practices.
Basic computer applications related to the work.
Performing detailed office support work; maintaining accurate records of work performed.
Operating standard office equipment; reading and explaining rules, policies and procedures.
Reviewing financial documents for completeness and accuracy.
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Ability to work in a fast-paced payroll environment.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word,
Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access.

Job Duties Assist with processing payroll for all benefit eligible employees.
Process all student worker payroll and hourly payroll.
Validate accuracy of all payroll transactions.
File and maintain records to support payroll deductions, changes, etc.
Analyzes transactions to bring resolution to problems.
Process employment verification requests from outside agencies.
Process disbursement of monthly payroll liabilities to ensure timely payment.
Serve as a resource for employees who have questions regarding payroll.
Execute tasks for student online payment plan maintenance.
Provide backup in the absence of the Payroll Coordinator for all tasks.
Prepare tax payments for Payroll Coordinator for review and submission.
Manage and calculate pay and deductions for all off-cycle payroll checks.
Assist with preparation, reconciliation, and submission of Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas reports.
Accuracy and confidentiality in managing all payroll records.
File and maintain records to support payroll deductions, changes, etc.
Analyzes transactions to bring resolution to problems.
Adheres to department internal controls and College payroll policies and practices.
