Job Description

Payroll Analyst, Reston, VA($35-40/hr) Position Summary The Payroll Analyst supports U.S. payroll accounting operations by maintaining payroll-related general ledger activities, ensuring compliance with GAAP, reconciling accounts, managing payroll transactions, and assisting with audits, tax filings, and internal controls. Key Responsibilities Support month-end and year-end accounting close processes. Prepare payroll-related journal entries and account reconciliations. Resolve general ledger mapping issues and maintain payroll accounting records. Manage payroll reports, bank reconciliation issues, and field accounting support. Administer escheatment processes, uncashed checks, direct deposit reversals, and replacement payments. Research payroll discrepancies, refunds, and potential fraud transactions. Assist with payroll tax filings, rate updates, audits, and compliance activities. Develop and maintain payroll accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. 3+ years of payroll or general accounting experience, preferably in a Workday environment. Experience with ERP systems; Workday Payroll, Financials, and General Ledger strongly preferred.
SAP FI/CO
experience preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP and payroll accounting practices. Advanced Excel, spreadsheet, and data analysis skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database query tools.
