Job Description

Payroll Specialist Summary of Job Description:
The Payroll Specialist handles the daily operations of the Payroll Department, by producing accurate and timely processing of company payroll (on and off cycle), special pay requests, ACH transfers, month end processing and other special reporting requirements. This position also serves as an assistant to the Human Resource Managers and all other departments within the ESC by helping them with any problems or questions they may have related to payroll or other appropriate issues.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Provides PeopleSoft support to the Human Resource Managers Inputs/updates employee data in People Soft and ensures data accuracy Analyzes, corrects, inputs and processes payroll into PeopleSoft Establishes weekly calculation schedules for current and upcoming payrolls Identifies and corrects payroll errors before final paycheck processing Oversees the maintenance of pay run check list to ensure all preliminary reports, calculations, queries, and post confirm reports are completed and recorded Processes Off-Cycle Cash Disbursement Checks Researches and Processes special pay requests including: Severance Pay Moving Allowances Deferred Compensation Stock Options Deceased Employee Estate Requests Other Pay as Needed Supports Kronos, including updating accrual changes and reviewing HRM approvals for payroll processing Contribute to month-end processes Maintains payroll files Assists in the training process of any new Customer Service Representative at the ESC for payroll related items, including creating new Knowledge Articles as needed Answers incoming calls through the corporate phone system Responds efficiently and effectively to all correspondence from field customers, employees or 3rd party vendors via phone, email and/or Case Management System Work on special projects as assigned including account reconciliations, accruals and journal entries as well as cross train with other team members Serves as back-up for Payroll Garnishment Specialist as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum three years HR/Payroll experience in a multistate company Bachelor's degree or Certification is preferred Knowledge of PeopleSoft Software and Microsoft Applications Strong emphasis on accuracy and quality Deep knowledge of payroll functions and processing, including bookkeeping, payroll tax, fringe benefits and garnishments Ability to multi-task and coordinate a series of different jobs simultaneously Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude Willingness to learn new tasks and be flexible Flexibility to work overtime when needed Customer service driven Proactive approach to issue resolution Outstanding customer service skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Detailed oriented Team Player Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Excellent problem-solving skills Ability to analyze and interpret information Not the right fit?
