Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Administer weekly payroll for construction employees in both field and office settings using Spectrum
- Coordinate payroll activities across multiple states, ensuring earnings, deductions, and jurisdictional requirements are handled correctly.
- Manage union payroll obligations, including reporting, audit support, and adherence to applicable labor agreement requirements.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax payments and filings on a weekly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Lead year-end payroll activities, including the accurate issuance of W-2 and 1095-C forms.
- Oversee employee onboarding and separation tasks to maintain correct payroll setup, records, and final pay processing.
- Administer benefit enrollments and removals to keep employee deductions and coverage aligned with status changes.
- Work closely with superintendents and project managers to gather, review, and verify weekly time records from the field.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll and onboarding workflows, including supporting system review, data cleanup, and process enhancements.
- Provide dependable support within the payroll function and contribute to broader payroll coverage as business needs expand. Requirements
- At least 3 years of payroll administration experience, preferably in a construction or similarly complex workforce environment.
- Hands-on experience processing full-cycle payroll for employee populations ranging from approximately 100 to 500 employees.
- Demonstrated knowledge of multi-state payroll practices, including applicable tax withholding and filing requirements.
- Experience administering union payroll and supporting related reporting, compliance, and audit activities.
- Proficiency with Spectrum payroll systems.
- Strong understanding of payroll taxes, year-end reporting, and standard payroll compliance obligations.
- Ability to manage employee onboarding, offboarding, and benefits-related payroll changes with accuracy and timeliness.
