reviews From $54,965 a year - Full-time Racine Unified School District is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll, managing payroll deductions and leave transactions, balancing payroll records, processing garnishments and tax levies, supporting Wisconsin Retirement System reporting, and collaborating with departments across the district to provide exceptional service. What You'll Do Process bi-weekly payroll and off-cycle payrolls. Maintain employee payroll records and HR/Payroll data. Review and audit payroll calculations for accuracy. Process payroll deductions, garnishments, tax levies, and leave transactions. Assist with W-2 processing and payroll tax reporting. Manage Workers' Compensation payroll payments. Prepare employment verification and legal payroll documentation. Collaborate with Human Resources and district departments to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing. Provide outstanding customer service to employees and external partners. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of payroll experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience working with HR/Payroll systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and accuracy. Preferred Qualifications Experience in K-12 public school or government payroll. Knowledge of Tyler Munis, Kronos, Lawson, or similar HR/Payroll systems. Familiarity with the Wisconsin Retirement System. Experience with complex payroll rules, garnishments, tax levies, and FLSA regulations. Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP). Associate's degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field. Why Join RUSD?
