JOB SUMMARY
The Safekeeping Specialist is responsible for administering the daily safekeeping activity of the correspondent banking department. This position will manage the asset portfolios of all correspondent banks and support the correspondent banking team, ensuring the highest level of client service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform daily safekeeping functions for correspondent clients including general ledger balancing, processing daily entries, safekeeping transactions, settlement, updating pledged security positions, problem research and resolution. Verifying new safekeeping relationships are established in the various safekeeping applications. Work directly with the correspondent bank customers and third-party safekeeping vendor, ensuring security transfers are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Assist all current and new safekeeping customers with inquiries. Research safekeeping discrepancies for downstream correspondent banks. Meet all critical deadlines as dictated by upstream correspondent banks, system-related cut-offs, downstream correspondent bank expectations, etc., paying close attention to details and accuracy on all transactions. Assist with preparation of various reports and audit requests, as well as researching trends to ensure accuracy of documentation. Collaborate on the development and maintenance of policies and procedures within the correspondent banking department, focusing on continuous process improvements and automating daily procedures. Maintain a working knowledge of the financial industry, product offerings and current issues that impact our correspondent banks and the services they require. Maintain a professional relationship with all bank clients. Collaborate with a variety of individuals and teams in a constructive and professional manner. Comply with all company or regulatory policies, procedures and requirements that are applicable to this position. Foster and preserve a culture of inclusion. QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of experience in banking operations or related area required. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Advanced computer knowledge with emphasis on Microsoft Excel and Word. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
