Personal Banker I's are skilled at building strong customer relationships and recommending the right products and services. They use their product knowledge in every conversation to understand what customers need and offer financial solutions that make banking simple and help customers feel secure about their money. This is not a transaction-only role — it goes beyond helping with deposits and withdrawals. The focus is on turning everyday banking visits into real financial conversations. That includes recommending products, following up on leads, making outbound calls, and building relationships with local businesses and contacts who can send referrals your way. As a Personal Banker I, you'll receive thorough training on products, services, the sales process, and how to offer the right financial solutions. You'll also work closely with branch leaders who will mentor and guide you along the way. What you'll do as a
Personal Banker:
Ask customers questions about their financial goals to better understand what they need, then match them with the right products or services Build and manage your own list of loan customers, focusing on reaching out to new and existing customers to offer home equity loans, personal loans, auto loans, and mortgage referrals — with the goal of closing more deals Grow the branch's customer base by using your product knowledge to find lending opportunities through networking, conversations, and outreach to new and existing customers Learn how to handle transactions, manage a cash drawer, and complete all required bank paperwork correctly and on time, following bank and legal guidelines Track your daily performance goals, push yourself to improve, and balance multiple tasks at once — all while delivering the unparalleled customer experience to every customer Other duties as assigned What you have as a
Personal Banker:
HS Diploma or equivalent At least 1 year of experience in retail banking, retail sales, or a customer-facing role where you recommended products that lead to sales Reliable transportation and the ability to work branch hours, including weekends and some evenings Ability to get your NMLS license within 90 days of being hired Ability to quickly and accurately learn new products, services, and processes Basic math skills and the ability to solve problems while following the bank's guidelines and staying within approved risk levels Proven ability to connect with customers, have meaningful conversations, ask open-ended questions, and listen well to build trust and long-term relationships Ability to grow your own customer base by using promotional offers, reaching out to leads, turning service conversations into sales, and asking happy customers for referrals Works well in a fast-paced, sales-focused team environment and uses daily feedback and coaching to improve your results Uses strong product knowledge and conversation skills to understand what customers need and help make a real difference in their financial lives Communicates clearly and confidently, maintains a positive attitude, and enjoys finding solutions that leave customers satisfied Pays close attention to detail — whether filling out paperwork or explaining product features and benefits to a customer Enjoys sharing knowledge and helping teammates grow by acting as a sales mentor Bonus points of the
