A Day in the Life The Sr. Director, Workday & Financial Systems leads the enterprise Workday Financials and Professional Services Automation (PSA) platform for Onterris, an $800M+ publicly traded, highly acquisitive organization. The role balances enterprise delivery leadership, strong financial accounting acumen, and deep Workday functional fluency, guiding a specialized systems team through platform optimization, M&A integration, and operating model maturity. In partnership with business leaders across Onterris, this position directly supports the company's mission of advancing our way of life without compromising the integrity of our environment. The compensation range for this role is $170,000 - $210,000 USD commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership Lead, develop, and retain a specialized Workday Financials and PSA team Establish a scalable team and delivery model aligned to platform complexity and enterprise growth Provide clear technical and functional leadership across projects, enhancements, and operations Build durable internal capability while intentionally leveraging partners where appropriate Manage Workday vendors, system integrators, and advisory partners Enterprise Delivery & Technology Leadership Accountable for overall Workday Financials and PSA platform strategy, health, and evolution. Partner with Enterprise Architecture and platform leaders to define and enforce SDLC, coding standards, and architectural principles Own delivery quality for Workday Financials and PSA, balancing speed of execution with long‑term architectural rigor Manage Workday release cycles, regression testing, and feature adoption Ensure Workday Financials and PSA align with enterprise integration, data, and security standards Contribute to multi‑year technology roadmaps spanning Workday, Salesforce, Snowflake, and adjacent finance platforms Contribute to a repeatable M&A Runbook for the Financials and PSA teams Serve as a senior Workday subject‑matter expert on business processes, configuration patterns, workflows, and reporting design Maintain deep understanding of Workday data models, dimensions, and data elements Lead Workday integrations and data onboarding for acquisitions Lead and champion initiatives that apply advanced analytics and intelligent automation within Finance and PSA platforms to improve efficiency and scalability Finance Partnership & Business Enablement Serve as a trusted IT partner to the CFO, Controller, FP&A, Treasury, and Finance Operations leadership Support core financial processes including close, reporting, budgeting, and planning (Workday and Adaptive) Drive automation of accounting‑related processes including banking, reconciliation, settlement, and cash application Partner with Finance to rationalize and enhance intercompany accounting processes Own and maintain bank integrations and related controls Build and Maintain Workday data models, dimensions, and data elements, enabling accurate analysis. Provide executive oversight and functional leadership for Workday PSA Ensure effective alignment between PSA, Financials, and downstream revenue recognition Partner with Salesforce and Commercial Systems teams to improve the end-to-end contract‑to‑cash lifecycle Reduce manual handoffs and system fragmentation across quoting, projects, billing, and revenue workflows Lead initiatives to evaluate and implement machine learning and intelligent automation capabilities that would drive efficiency in the Finance function Financial Systems Governance & Controls Establish and operate a financial systems governance framework appropriate for a public company Ensure SOX compliance for Workday related controls including access management, change management, and segregation of duties Partner with Internal Audit on control testing, remediation, and audit readiness Own Workday security architecture including role-based access, SoD design, and provisioning workflows Partner with Cybersecurity and Internal Audit on platform security design and risk management Required Qualifications 8+ years of experience leading enterprise financial systems, including Workday Financials and/or PSA 5+ years in a leadership role managing ERP or financial systems teams Strong financial accounting knowledge with 5+ years supporting core accounting processes (record‑to‑report, intercompany, close) Experience operating in a publicly traded company with SOX and audit requirements Demonstrated ability to partner with senior Finance leadership as a trusted advisor Experience leading platform transformations, optimizations, or new implementations Experience supporting highly acquisitive environments Preferred Qualifications Accounting background or prior experience embedded within Finance organizations Multiple implementations or large-scale deployments of Workday Financials and/or PSA Proven experience supporting PSA in a professional or project-based services environment Experience with adjacent platforms such as Salesforce, Snowflake, and Coupa Background in financial data governance and master data management Workday Pro certification(s) in Financial Management domains (Record‑to‑Report, Procure‑to‑Pay, Contracts‑to‑Cash, Financials Reporting, Adaptive Planning) preferred Onterris is a leading global environmental solutions company partnering with organizations to solve complex challenges where environmental pressures, regulatory expectations and operational risks intersect.
