The Opportunity:

Whittier Street Health Center is seeking a full-time Financial Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will support patients in navigating insurance coverage, billing processes, and eligibility for free care programs. You'll serve as a key liaison between patients, insurance providers, and internal teams, helping ensure access to care while delivering a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a liaison between patients and insurance companies regarding eligibility and coverage Explain billing procedures and payment options to patients Assist uninsured patients with determining free care eligibility and completing required documentation Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient account information Review reports related to free care programs and communicate findings as needed Collaborate with internal departments to ensure efficient and patient-centered financial services Prepare reports, correspondence, and administrative documentation as required Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and patient experience Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information

Qualifications:

Associate degree in Health Administration, Business, or a related field required (or equivalent experience) Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare billing, insurance, or managed care Strong understanding of insurance processes, third-party billing, and eligibility requirements Strong customer service and communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and interdisciplinary teams Join Our Team!
