Job Summary:
Develop and facilitate payment plans for medical expenses; coordinate with patients and insurers. Interact with patients, physicians, and other members of a multi-disciplinary clinical team to create an exceptional patient experience. Performs administrative duties with patient registration operations in designated outpatient clinic settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Billing and Collections Support:
Manage self-pay accounts, follow up on outstanding balances, and arrange payment plans in line with policy.
Cost Estimation and Financial Counseling:
Provide pre-treatment cost estimates and explain deductibles, coinsurance, and co-payments to patients.
Insurance and Benefit Verification:
Confirm insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage limits before services are rendered. Resolve coverage disputes and obtain necessary authorizations. Support check-in and check-out processes for patients and schedule appointments/fill in when needed. Weekly deposits for Wayne Health departments as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education, Licensure/Certification, and Training:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Experience in third-party billing preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive financial discussions empathetically. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and have a high level of customer service skills. Knowledge of insurance policies, billing practices, and financial aid programs including insurance EOB/COB. Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and billing systems. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Travel to other locations if needed.
Safety Requirements:
Compliance with Department Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Working Conditions/Schedule:
