Job Description

Job Overview Financial Resource Workers (FRW) assist patients in successfully understanding and applying for health insurance and various other financially related programs including County Benefits (SNAP, cash assistance and Emergency Assistance), Energy Assistance and Charity Care. This assistance is provided both telephonically and on site at all M Health Fairview Clinics Responsibilities Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards. Work with Care Management team to assist patients in obtaining and maintaining health care insurance/coverage and applying for financial assistance programs. Provides financial assessments for uninsured patients and patients who are experiencing financial hardship. Meets with patients over the phone to assist with applications, including but not limited to, Medical Assistance, MNCare, Qualified Health Plans through MNsure open enrollment, the Combined Application for County Benefits, Emergency Assistance and Charity Care. Works actively with patients to fill out forms and ensure all necessary information is included in and during the application process. Advocates for patients in dealing with government programs. Collaborates with various M Health Fairview departments, community organizations, county and state agencies to meet patient needs. Required Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent Knowledge of government and federal assistance programs. 1 year of financial counseling experience Ability to work with patients from differing socioeconomic backgrounds, language barriers and cultures in a way that is comprehendible.
