Job Description

Charlotte Gastroenterology & Hepatology is hiring a Biologics Coordinator. This position is responsible for managing the clerical aspects of biologic and specialty medication therapy for gastroenterology patients, including insurance authorization, financial coordination, patient education, and ongoing therapy tracking. This role serves as a key liaison between providers, patients, and payers to ensure timely access to treatment and continuity of care.
RESPONSABILITIES
Schedule and coordinate infusion appointments for patients receiving biologic therapies. Verify insurance benefits, determine coverage for medications and infusion services. Coordinate prior authorizations and reauthorizations for biologics. Track authorization status and proactively address denials, including appeals and peer-to-peer coordination Financial counseling: Educate patients on out-of-pocket costs and financial responsibilities. Act as a liaison between patients, insurance companies, and specialty pharmacies to facilitate approval and reimbursement for biologic therapies.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and timely documentation to support audit readiness for biologic therapy programs. Work closely with physicians, nurses, and the billing team to ensure comprehensive patient care. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure patient and program success.
Inventory Management:
Monitor and manage inventory of biologic medications and infusion supplies. Ensure proper storage and handling of biologic agents.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma. Associate's degree in healthcare or related field of study preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred 1-2 years of experience. Familiarity with obtaining insurance benefits and authorizations and infusible medications is a plus.
