Job Description

Financial Screening Navigator
Duration:
6 months
Location:
Camden
NJ 08103
Shift:
7:30-4 Monday-Friday, onsite.
Summary:
Financially screens uninsured and underinsured patients prior to inpatient and outpatient services, including office visits, testing, diagnostic studies, surgeries and procedures. Financial screening process encompasses any or all of the following job functions:
  • Navigates and completes financial referrals for all uninsured and underinsured patients.
  • Reviews patient history involving past illnesses, treatment locations, diagnoses and final outcomes.
  • Assesses patient financial status and explores all third party liability options (e.g., Charity Care, Disability, Medicaid, SEED Program, Victims of Crime, grants) to assist patients.
  • Explains NJ State Presumptive Eligibility and CMS Insurance Marketplace options to patients.
  • Helps patients with new health coverage to understand their benefits and use them appropriately for primary care and preventive services.
  • Generates patient liability estimates and provides to patients.
  • Collects patient liability payments and/or establishes payment arrangements.
Provides clear and concise documentation in systems. Communicates daily with internal customers, providers and patients. High School Diploma required. 2 years experience in healthcare revenue cycle billing and reimbursement, working specifically with health insurance plans and products, NJ Charity Care and Medicaid preferred. Experience with
EPIC, IDX
Flow cast and Health quest systems preferred. Basic knowledge of medical terminology, continuity of care protocols and coding principles.
