Job Description

We are looking for a Patient Financial Counselor to join a healthcare organization in Pennsylvania, in a Contract to permanent position. This role is ideal for someone who can explain financial matters clearly, support patients with empathy, and help them understand coverage and payment expectations before or during care. You will serve as a key point of contact for patients while working closely with internal teams to promote accurate financial communication and a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Explain insurance benefits, anticipated out-of-pocket expenses, and coverage details so patients can make informed financial decisions.
  • Confirm eligibility and review patient liability, including copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, and estimated balances.
  • Walk patients through billing procedures, payment arrangements, and organizational financial policies in a clear and thorough manner.
  • Evaluate potential eligibility for charity care, financial assistance, Medicaid, or other support programs and help patients complete next steps.
  • Coordinate with patient access and revenue cycle staff to support correct account creation and timely financial clearance.
  • Record patient conversations, coverage findings, and financial updates accurately within the appropriate systems.
  • Respond to sensitive financial questions with discretion, compassion, and a service-oriented approach.
  • Support front-end patient intake and financial counseling activities to help streamline the patient access experience.
