Job Description

Financial Advisor Forgent - 3.5 Fairfield, CT Job Details Full-time $120,000 - $160,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Profit sharing Health insurance Unlimited paid time off Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Flexible schedule Qualifications Teamwork CFP Team development Presentation skills Client services Full Job Description Lead Advisor, Financial Planning Fairfield, CT (Hybrid- 1 day a week in office) Overview Our client is , an independent, planning-led RIA based in Fairfield, CT, is hiring its key number-two: a lead advisor to own client relationships, deliver comprehensive cash-flow-based financial plans, and help build the firm's client service model from the ground up. This role exists because the firm is growing and the founder needs a planning expert to take the lead on client-facing advisory work while he focuses on business development and firm growth. There is no requirement to prospect, cold call, or bring a book of business. The founder's background is in leadership, operations, and team development, not financial planning. He is looking for someone whose planning and advisory skills are exceptional, and in return he will actively invest in developing that person's leadership, management, and business-building capabilities through daily check-ins, weekly one-on-ones, and a structured operating system. The five-year vision is a firm with a team of advisors, and the expectation is that this hire leads them. Compensation is $160,000 total: a $120,000 base salary and a $40,000 quarterly performance-based bonus tied to firm and individual targets, paid every quarter. A path to equity or profit-sharing is available within two years based on performance. Onboarding is structured over 90 days: the first 30 days are learning and shadowing, days 30 to 60 involve meeting existing clients and supporting new client work, and days 60 to 90 you are taking on new clients with coaching and support. The role requires in-office attendance in Fairfield one day per week on Mondays for team meetings, with the remainder virtual. Candidates anywhere in Connecticut or the New York City metropolitan area are commutable. This is not a fit for candidates seeking a fully remote position, a large established firm, or a low-intensity environment. The culture is direct, collaborative, feedback-driven, and fast-paced. Responsibilities Own client relationships and deliver comprehensive, cash-flow-based financial plans for high-net-worth clients (typically corporate executives and business owners, HHI $500K+, investable assets $2M-$8M) using Right Capital; lead client meetings and present plans independently; design and build the firm's first-100-day client experience; collaborate with the founder on developing client service systems, technology workflows, and operational processes; participate in structured onboarding and daily/weekly development conversations; contribute to a technology-forward, AI-integrated firm infrastructure; and evolve over time into a leadership role managing a team of advisors. Ideal Candidate Traits Planning-focused and technically strong; client-facing with the confidence to present to high-net-worth households; coachable and receptive to direct, regular feedback; energized by building systems and processes, not just maintaining them; self-directed and organized; comfortable in an early-stage environment where infrastructure is still being built; collaborative and team-oriented; motivated by long-term career growth and partnership over short-term title or comp maximization. Required Licenses and Certifications CFP designation preferred; candidates actively pursuing CFP will be considered for the right profile. Qualifications 3+ years of client-focused financial planning experience Experience building and presenting comprehensive financial plans directly to clients RIA background strongly preferred; independent broker-dealer background is a close second Experience with cash-flow-based planning software (Right Capital, eMoney, MoneyGuidePro, or similar) Second-chair, associate advisor, or paraplanner candidates ready to step into a lead role are encouraged to apply CFP Compensation and Benefits $120,000 base salary $40,000 quarterly performance bonus (firm and individual targets) Path to equity or profit-sharing within two years based on performance Unlimited PTO with pre-approval Health coverage negotiable All technology and supplies provided This role is being recruited by Forgent, an AI-powered talent service built for producer-led financial services firms. All conversations are confidential.
