Job Description
What we need We're seeking a passionate, relationship-oriented Financial Planner to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical and personal sides of financial planning. You'll help prepare recommendations, participate in client meetings, build trusted relationships, and take ownership of increasingly complex planning engagements as your experience and confidence grow. At OLIO, we believe great planners are developed over time. Our goal is to help the right candidate grow into a Lead Financial Planner role, where they can lead client relationships and mentor teammates. We have two office locations, one on the outskirts of Washington, DC in Tysons Corner, VA, and the other in the mountains of southwest Virginia in Blacksburg. We also work remotely. While our preference is for this position to be based in our Blacksburg, VA office, we're open to a remote arrangement for the right person. Preference will be given to those located in VA, NC, SC, TN, or PA, where we already have teammates. This role includes regular travel to Blacksburg, VA (typically quarterly, but occasionally more frequently) for client meetings, team collaboration, training, and firm events. Salary is commensurate with experience and may vary based on location. What you'll do Your first priority will be learning how we serve clients and what makes the OLIO experience unique. You'll spend time learning our planning philosophy, client service model, technology stack, and processes while working alongside experienced planners and advisors. As your knowledge and confidence grow, you'll take on increasing responsibility in both planning and client relationship management. In your first 6 months to a year Learn OLIO's approach to comprehensive financial planning and client service Prepare meeting agendas, reports, and planning analyses Build and maintain financial plans in RightCapital Run tax analyses and projections in Holistiplan Participate in client meetings alongside senior planners Collaborate with advisors and client success team members to ensure recommendations are implemented Identify planning opportunities and contribute ideas to client discussions Build technical expertise across retirement, tax, investments, insurance, estate planning, and cash flow planning As You Grow Take ownership of portions of client relationships Lead sections of client meetings Present planning recommendations and strategies Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients Develop expertise in areas of financial planning that interest you Mentor newer team members and contribute to firm initiatives Progress toward leading client relationships independently And Occasionally... Change lightbulbs, figuratively speaking. We're a small company, and sometimes everyone pitches in wherever needed. A Few Things You Should Know You do not need to bring a book of business. We do not have sales quotas or prospecting requirements. Our clients belong to the firm, not individual advisors. We believe the best client outcomes happen when planners collaborate and share knowledge.
