Private Wealth Advisory Services Location:
Reston, VA, Richmond, VA, or Louisville, KY Overview Blueprint Financial Group is seeking an Investment Lead to own and evolve the firm's investment strategy, portfolio management, and trading systems. This role bridges financial planning and investments, requiring strong expertise in both. The Investment Lead oversees portfolio strategy—including retirement distribution planning and tactical market adjustments—while organizing multiple books of business and building scalable, efficient systems. This is a hands-on, high-impact role partnering closely with Advisors and Operations to ensure portfolios are precise, planning-aligned, and proactively managed. The ideal candidate brings strong portfolio management experience, credibility with advisors, and a systems-driven mindset in a fast-paced environment. Personal Responsibility Curiosity & Coachability Gratitude & Loyalty "Weird", Unique, and Fun Strive for Excellence Key Responsibilities Portfolio Management & Trading Execution Manage day-to-day trading workflows (e.g. rebalancing, DCAs, cash management, and tax-loss/gain harvesting) Implement systematic processes for portfolio oversight, sleeve-level management, and opportunistic moves Monitor market conditions, macro trends, and investment options to inform portfolio updates Ensure accuracy, consistency, and high-quality execution across all client portfolios Systems, Organization & Infrastructure Organize and systematize the full investment book of business Build scalable, repeatable processes for trading, portfolio reviews, and ongoing oversight Partner with operations to streamline custodial, billing, and trading workflows Maintain research archives, models, and investment playbooks accessible to advisors Advisor Collaboration & Internal Partnership Collaborate with financial planning teams to align portfolios with client goals and plans Support advisors with case design, portfolio recommendations, and client communication materials Train and guide team members on investment philosophy, positioning, and messaging Build strong advisor relationships and establish credibility early (first 3-6 months) Client Experience & Communication Provide clear investment insights and commentary for client education, newsletters, and market updates Support a proactive, high-touch client experience rooted in the firm's values Communicate investment decisions confidently and effectively when needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree (ideally in finance, business, or related field) Series 7 license required 5-10 years of experience in portfolio management, trading, or investment analysis roles Experience with investment systems and platforms (ENV2, Pershing, Morningstar, or similar strongly preferred) Strong understanding of asset allocation, tax implications, and financial planning integration Highly organized with strong prioritization and execution skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to build credibility with advisors and clients Experience in RIA, family office, or similar environment preferred CFP®, AWMA, or similar designations (or interest in pursuing) a plus Career Growth Path Success in this role can lead to increased involvement in investment strategy discussions, client-facing conversations, and firm-wide portfolio direction.
