Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Accounting Representative to join our healthcare team. This role is responsible for managing patient billing and collection processes, resolving billing inquiries, updating payment plans within the system, and ensuring accurate and timely resubmission of claims to insurance providers. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a working knowledge of medical billing procedures, and a commitment to providing excellent service to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and process patient billing information accurately and efficiently. Assist with collections and payment plans as needed. Resubmit rejected claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid or denied claims. Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility and make corrections to rejected claims Respond to telephone, in person, and online patient inquiries regarding billing statements, insurance coverage, and payment options. Work with internal departments to resolve billing discrepancies. Maintain confidentiality of patient records and comply with HIPAA regulations. Update patient accounts and billing records in the system.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or certification in medical billing preferred. 1-2 years of experience in medical billing or healthcare administration. Knowledge of insurance guidelines, including Medicare and Medicaid. Familiarity with billing software and electronic health records. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Skills:
