Job Description

Role Overview The Assistant Vice President & Actuary will serve as a senior leader within the Chief Pricing Office and a key owner of enterprise pricing standards and governance. This role carries significant influence across high‑impact transactions and strategic initiatives, requiring strong independent actuarial judgment, governance leadership, and the ability to clearly articulate risk‑adjusted value considerations to senior stakeholders. The AVP partners closely with pricing, valuation, finance, risk, and business leadership to review complex deal structures, set and reinforce pricing assumptions, and continuously enhance pricing frameworks and governance processes. The role requires the ability to assess complex risks and economics under tight timelines and to provide clear, actionable recommendations. Key Responsibilities Pricing Frameworks, Assumptions & Governance The AVP develops, maintains, and enforces enterprise pricing frameworks across business lines and owns the evolution of standard pricing assumptions to reflect experience, market conditions, and emerging risks. The role supports pricing teams through education and guidance on best practices and ensures consistent application of pricing principles. New methodologies, underwriting techniques, and governance standards are embedded into pricing processes through this role. Deal Review & Oversight The role reviews and challenges pricing for transactions that meet defined materiality, complexity, or risk thresholds and engages early in the deal lifecycle to inform go / no‑go decisions, deal structure, and key assumptions. The AVP provides opinions on pricing appropriateness and escalates concerns in line with established governance, while partnering with business leaders to balance commercial objectives with disciplined, risk‑adjusted returns. Monitoring, Analytics & Feedback The AVP supports the development and use of KPIs and monitoring metrics to assess pricing performance, analyzes underperforming transactions or blocks of business, and identifies remediation actions. Trends and deviations in pricing outcomes are assessed to inform updates to frameworks, assumptions, and governance standards. Collaboration & Leadership The role acts as a trusted advisor to pricing, valuation, finance, enterprise risk, and senior business leadership on pricing governance and risk‑return trade‑offs. The AVP leads cross‑functional forums to drive alignment and adoption of CPO standards while maintaining appropriate independence and challenge. The role also mentors actuarial talent across the pricing community and represents the CPO in governance discussions involving high‑impact transactions and methodological change.
