Job Description

Position SummaryThe Fuel Pricing and Supply Manager is responsible for overseeing fuel procurement, managing supplier relationships, optimizing fuel pricing strategies, and ensuring consistent supply across all markets served. This role plays a key part in maximizing margin, reducing supply risk, and ensuring competitiveness in the fuel distribution and logistics sector.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Fuel Supply:
Develop and maintain relationships with refiners, rack marketers, and terminal operatorsNegotiate contracts for bulk and rack supply to ensure competitive pricing and reliable availabilityMonitor daily and long-term inventory levels and forecast supply needs across regionsCoordinate with dispatch, transportation, and terminal managers to align supply plans with operational capabilitiesStay up to date with terminal outages, refinery maintenance, and seasonal impacts affecting supply
Fuel Pricing:
Analyze market conditions, OPIS, DTN, and other price indexes to develop pricing strategies for retail and wholesale channelsSet daily rack and customer-specific pricing based on margin goals and competitive benchmarks.

Provide competitive analysis and make recommendations to adjust pricing to maintain market shareWork with finance to analyze gross margins and identify pricing opportunities or risksDevelop pricing models that account for transportation costs, terminal fees, and blending options
Data & Analytics:
Monitor KPIs such as cost per gallon, margin per site/customer, and price competitivenessPrepare weekly and monthly reporting for leadership regarding fuel performanceLeverage market intelligence tools to evaluate trends, spot market opportunities, and risk exposure
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure all purchasing agreements comply with federal, state, and local fuel regulationsManage branded supply contracts, RIN tracking (if applicable), and reportingCoordinate with legal and compliance teams regarding documentation, taxes, and environmental rules (e.g., RVP, biodiesel mandates)Education and Work ExperienceBachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related field preferred37 years of experience in fuel supply, pricing, petroleum logistics, or related industryExperience working with transportation fleets, fuel card programs, or retail/truck stop fuel networks preferredFamiliarity with EDI transactions, fuel taxes, or environmental compliance programs (e.g., LCFS, RFS) preferredKnowledge of U.S. West Coast or PADD-specific supply dynamics is a plusSkill SetDeep understanding of rack pricing mechanisms, terminal logistics, and supplier contract structuresStrong Excel and data analytics skills; familiarity with fuel pricing tools such as OPIS and DTNExcellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to make decisions under pressure and manage multiple dynamic factorsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detailPhysical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
