Job Description
Overview Join our team as a County Assessor and play a vital role in accurately determining the value of properties within the county for taxation purposes. This dynamic position combines analytical expertise with a deep understanding of real estate, construction, and financial concepts to ensure fair and equitable assessments. As a County Assessor, you will lead efforts in data collection, property valuation, and compliance with relevant regulations, contributing directly to the fiscal health of the community. Your work will support transparent tax policies and promote fair housing practices while utilizing cutting-edge GIS technology and financial analysis tools. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive property inspections and data collection to gather accurate information on real estate assets. Apply real estate appraisal techniques, including market analysis and cost approaches, to determine property values. Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software to analyze spatial data and support property assessments. Perform quantitative research and financial analysis to ensure assessments align with current market conditions and regulatory standards. Prepare detailed financial reports, assessment notices, and documentation that clearly communicate valuation findings. Ensure compliance with Fair Housing regulations and local tax laws during all assessment activities. Collaborate with construction professionals, surveyors, and other stakeholders to verify property details and updates. Requirements Proven experience or strong knowledge in accounting, financial analysis, or tax-related fields. Familiarity with construction processes, real estate appraisal methods, and data collection techniques. Proficiency in financial software applications and GIS tools used for property assessment purposes. Solid understanding of financial concepts such as valuation methods, cost analysis, and market trends. Experience working with LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs or similar housing initiatives is a plus. Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and their implications for property assessment practices. Strong math skills combined with attention to detail and accuracy in report writing. Ability to interpret complex data sets, conduct quantitative research, and communicate findings effectively.
