Plans Examiner

Public Agency Resources (PARS), a subsidiary of Willdan Group Inc., has an opening for a Full-Time Plans Examiner in the Los Angeles , CA area. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Examines plans and specifications for buildings for completeness and conformity with all code requirements of the following design elements: Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire/Life safety, Energy conservation regulations, Green Building Standards, Accessibility and Egress. Coordinates the review of plans with other public agencies whose approval is necessary; itemizes the required corrections and modifications and explains them to permit applicants. When requested, authorizes the issue of building permits for plans that meet code and ordinance requirements; calculates fees. Advises and assists architects, contractors, builders, and the general public with interpretation and application of pertinent building regulations, state laws, and local ordinances. Submits reports to jurisdictional Building Officials regarding workload and process statistics, new products or situations. and code interpretations issues. Provides assistance to the public jurisdictional building counters when requested, answering questions related to plans and permitting requirements. Job Requirements / Qualifications Minimum 5 years of plan check experience. Municipal experience. ICC Plans Examiner Certification. Thorough knowledge of building codes.
