TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, WE MUST RECEIVE A JEFFERSON COUNTY APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT, AVAILABLE AT
www.jcgov.us Jefferson County Assessor's Office is hiring for a full-time Property Tax Appraiser. Duties and Responsibilities Conducting physical inspections and appraisals of improved and unimproved real and personal property throughout Jefferson County for property tax assessment purposes Assisting with the annual review and appraisal of approximately 20% of county properties as required by Idaho law Analyzing and verifying market data to determine accurate and equitable property valuations Measuring and reviewing new construction homes and commercial buildings Defending and supporting property valuations, Idaho statutes, and accepted appraisal practices during assessment appeal proceedings Researching property information and responding to public inquiries regarding property assessments and valuation procedures Maintaining accurate records and appraisal documentation Working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment Essential abilities: Must work well independently and on a team Proficient math skills including calculating ratios, fractions, percentages, basic operations, and geometry Computer proficiency, including Assessor's Office software and common office software Ability to read and interpret Idaho laws and rules Effective written and oral communication Good customer service skills Physical ability to walk, lift, bend, kneel, and climb while measuring new construction dwellings in different weather conditions including: snow, mud, rain, wind, and heat Ability to sit in a car for long periods of time and/or sit with intermittent moving in an office environment Ability to work effectively in an open space area with noises and minimal privacy Good organizational skills and attention to detail Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; Certified Property Tax Appraiser or ability to certify within 18 months of hire; Valid Driver's License Special Requirements Must be able to pass a background check; Must attend ongoing training to maintain certification
